Thread: Thomson Box - Beginning Of A Slow Death?

Started 3 months, 2 weeks ago by Ben1980
Good afternoon, I am after a bit of advice as to what the issue could be and what I could be entitled to. I have a Thomson 3007 Sky HD box which over the last few weeks has begun to miss set recordings and crash when trying to change channels and exit new EPG. I am also seeing severe pixel issues. I have seen...

Sky knows that probably the majority of Thomson HD boxes have a well known design fault (and a simple one that's easy to fix) so if you spend that much and moan enough, you may just get a new box - which will be faster. Otherwise, just pay to get the current box fixed. It may not be the fastest HD box, but once fixed it is likely to last many years more....

Thanks JonMorris/Nigel Sorry to confirm I purchased it via Currys and did not walk away with the box on the day! Did pay £299 though. Think I will give Sky a go direct and see what their response is. If it is not worth it I will go down the private repair route given a new discounted box does not appear to be available....

Get it fixed. http://www.satcure.co.uk/accs/page12.htm#psukit If you don't fancy the soldering then there is a list of people who will do the job. Satcure gave great service. Don't go for the more expensive delivery option. My kit arrived the next day with standard delivery. Works a treat and is upgraded. There is also info on how to upgrade...

Recently I have done just that. Removing the old PSU & replacing it with a new took about 30 minutes. I am fortunate enough to live near a Satcure 'agent'. He let me have the replacement PSU to fit myself as I didn't want to lose any planned recordings. I then sent my faulty PSU back to him the next day. My Thomson had different problems to ...
