Thread: This is kind of technical

Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by Rskitall
I noticed below the battery there are relays a couple are missing on my fd1 and it says there for FD2.I was wondering what those relays do. maybe a cheap upgrade if you just throw those relays in there? Just a long shot

Check the operator's manual. It'll probably say what they are for.

I don't think I saw it in there

Probably for the oil cooler and something to do with hill decent control.

FDII has a higher output alternator. Probably needed to power those extras.

Rskitall replied 1 month, 2 weeks ago
trying to find out through the wiring diagrams but one is defenitely hill descent the other one looks like it might be for the heated seats but not sure. SO with hill descent do you have to press a button for it to work?

UA_who replied 1 month, 2 weeks ago
No. The HDC works by default, unless you press a button to turn it off.

Rskitall replied 1 month, 2 weeks ago
so it works whenever your on hill and put it in low?

UA_who replied 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Yes. Unless you turn it off. It is "on" by default when in low.

Turning the ESP full off keeps the HDC from working. I prefer it that way myself, although maybe on steeper looser hills it might be handy. I've been going down hills off road for a long time though, and prefer the way I drive to the vehicle doing it itself. It makes a lot of noise too when HDC is working on the downhills.

I typically leave it on, but it doesn't come into play usually. I normally will be crawling slower than the 5mph anyway.
