I know this isn't a Win7 forum, but it applies to any Windows OS. After installing Windows 7, I've got three defivices listed in the Device Manager under Other Devices as the drivers aren't installed. Done a full Windows Update, looked a screenshots I made of all the items in Programs & Features from the original Vista x64 build when I got it from Lenovo to make sure I've installed everything I ...

install ThinkVantage System Update for Microsoft Windows 7 Version 4.0.0024, to find all the drivers

aconnell replied 1 month, 2 weeks ago
That did it... plus a double reboot. Thanks!

is there a more perminant solution than disabling driver signature enforcement every time I reboot?  yes it solves the problem, but only for that session.  If i forget to do this after the next reboot i'm without sound again.   this seems like it should be an easy fix...   t400 vista64

solved my own problem.... no one from lenovo could have shared this info? typical..     There are 2 ways to disable digital driver signatyre enforcement; the 1st way is using command-line tool cmd.exe to execute this command-line bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks ON , the 2nd method which is recommended is to diable it through Group Policy Object (GPO),   1. Start --->> Run ---> GPEdit...

Do you know of any instructions for installing the latest CUDA driver on a W700DS?  I got the laptop2go driver installed OK but the 2nd screen was rotated 90 degrees - and it could not be fixed using the control panel.

my problem is that I can't install the windows 7 64 bit and I don't know what I am doing wrong (the computer says there is no operating system on the disk when I try to boot off the installation disks-tried 3 separate disks)   JRF

Are you checked the BIOS to see have disk drives configured. I was in the "raid" two disk so I changed to the" compa" put a one new disk drive set order hard disks in bios. then install windows 7.

I need to send my W700 to the service centre within 15 days because of a similar problem as described in this thread: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Lapt ops/New-W700-with-dirt-behind-screen-glass-awful-L enovo-support/td-p/76599 . It appears that I need to package the machine myself and use a courier service. I'm not sure how this can be best done, e.g. what kind of packaging I...

Update...I have to enter the BIOS and select discrete graphics everytime I reboot.  It's kind of funny...billions of dollars were probably spent to produce the current laptops and operating systems that we use in 2009....and yet the same old driver issues from 1995 still plague us:-(

I would say yes - barely see the dim corner to the naked eye compare to old one.  However it may also proof that the place is indeed CCFL tube ending so a level of dimness is possible depends on the precision of the tube.   The light leak is magnitude worse than dim corner if you care to know.

Sorry...I am not an Electrical Engineer.....and I don't play one on TV....   By using your example, you also would not want a 230-watt system attempting to draw power from a 170-watt AC adapter.  The system would not get the power it needs and the AC adapter would probably get very hot.   In any case, the moral of the story is.....don't mix and match the wrong AC adapter with the wrong system.

To the OP, thanks much. I had placed an order for a W700 last week with the Mini Dock 1.0 and the projected completion date was 11/23/09. I spoke with my sales rep today and explained my concern with the Mini Dock being EOL (End of Life). He checked with his contact and didn't know if that would cause an order to be cancelled but he suggested I reorder the W700 but without the Mini Dock. So I did and the new completion date is projected...

Did you apply Lenovo driver packages in any specific order? Don't really understand what I missed?   My plan was to do a "clean" W7/64 install and after that run ThinkVantage System Update 4.0 for latest drivers.   In my case ThinkVantage System Update 4.0 could not start without Access Help for Windows 7 installed, that was the first dependency problem.   However, after that ThinkVantage System Update 4.0 run...

Found the solution, but no thanks to Lenovo tech support!  They wanted me to ship my computer back for warranty service thinking I had a hardware problem.  Instead, I found an updated video driver that fixes the problem. Even though this driver was released on Oct 13, tech support had no idea about it as of Nov 12 and the "Drivers & Software" page for the T500/W500 still lists the old driver from April.  I can't...

Running a W500 Windows 7 RTM 64bit. This machine loses battery charge after only a few hours when it's unplugged. It's properly shut down and not in hibernation or sleep. When the battery is taken out after shut down and put back in, no loss. In device manager I enabled "allow the machine to shut down this device to save battery power" whereever possible and disabled  any device to wakeup the machine. Did anyone come...
