This has been recommended for my very hyper SPD/ADHD son who may also be on the spectrum. He is starting to do it 2x/week at OT but the OT wants us to do it at home every day. I don't have a problem with the every day part, it's the money. We would have to buy earphones, a portable CD player and pay to use the CDs themselves. We are already paying for OT and Speech therapy. ...

We have used it twice (2x a day for 4-6 weeks- a year apart) and it was helpful. Once at age 2.5 and once at 3.5. My DD has SPD and PDD_NOS. Her OT 'rented' it out to us and we switched CDs every week. Out of pocket cost was $50. I was very happy with the results- she is a lot more tolerant of 'noise' and unexpected noises than she was, we also saw 'calmer' behaviors after most of the CDs. ...

I think it helped us - she seems much calmer. We've been doing therapeutic listening for over a year now. I know it's hard to decide what to spend the money on - for us it's been worth it and I would have chosen it over speech therapy. But the tricky part is that it doesn't help everyone.

Yeah, it doesn't help everyone. And the results may also not be long-term/permanent. If your child is 3yo or more, push your district to pick up the tab under the Special Education program (since it falls on them after the child is 3yo... wait... are you in the US? That's for the US). Also, check to see if your insurance covers it. They might depending on the provider you go through. We...
