Don't get me wrong, I think Madonna is a fine vocalist for what she does, but I don't think she's in the upper eschalon of vocalists. She's a good, competent pop singer.

Meh, I suspect Madonna was pushing her limits vocally with Evita and probably got some help with the technology available.
