There's nothing odd about it. Goodfellas and Pulp Fiction are flashy films with not much substance. They are the type of films that appeal to young american males (notice how highly they score with males under the age of 18).

Goodfellas only seems to have no substance if you're an idiot, and Pulp Fiction appears to contain nothing only if you've no clue what post-modernism is.
