A few years back King Zrz posted excerpts from a BTAS-themed issue of Animato magazine published in 1994. (You can read them here .)It featured interviews with Bruce Timm and many of the series' writers and directors, with comments on individual episode. While discussing "See No Evil," the author lets slip the following information:

Count and Countess= Vampires?

Just joking. I'm going to guess Nocturna and some other male vampire. I can't think of any others. I know she was considered because I read it in a World's Finest article.

A good guess, but IIRC the Nocturna episode was killed because Fox's BS&P wouldn't allow anything with genuine ...
I think "The Count and Countess" refers to an old Adventures Comics story where a US agent is sent after two spies, the Count and the Countess (real names Count Ludwig Sarnovsky and Countess Heidi Sarnovsky. If true, it would have been neat to put Batman in a spy flick.

Mind Games sounded great. I personally think Hugo Strange is an excellent Batman villain who was never used to his full potential on the animated series. The plot does sound very 1960s Adam West-ish, but that's not always a bad thing. I so would have been up for that.

Maybe "The Count and the Countess" was going to be an adaptation of the comics story "The Secret of the Waiting Graves," by Dennis O'Neil.
