They have tried making Alien games in the past and had a huge influence on games like Halo (look at the drop ships) but this film set the bar so high for action films it seemed like it would be an impossible challange to even consider making a game as good at the movie.
So, although it is very unlikly this post will never reach the master eyes but if anyone else feels like this is an idea ...
At the time, the Aliens arcade game (by Konami) seemed pretty good. Though looking back now, playing it on MAME, it's really just like Golden Axe but with guns.
I liked the idea of the AvP: Extinction game, played it for a bit, admittedly it was poorly executed, but a remake should prove enticing. But I tell you it was awesome to play as the aliens lol.
Serria made a good "Aliens" game Aliens Vs Predator 2 back in 2001, but that was 8years ago. It was pretty good for the time allowing to play three different roles in a interconnected storyline. The good news is the Rebellion (makers of the first AVP) is finally releasing a sequel in early 2010. Other good news is that Gearbox will be releasing "Aliens Colonial Marines" at latter part of 2010 ...
Well I think EVEN fanboys are aware of the 20 year difference in age btw Aliens & Halo; in fact, I've seen this discussed on YouTube quite frequently; the consensus seems to be that if it wasn't for 'Aliens' there wouldn't be a Halo, 'Zergs' or a WHOLE LOT of other Sci-Fi role playing games...

It was canned back in 2001 for PS2, but now SEGA and Gearbox are rebooting and making a brand new 4 player Co op game. Its going to be the best game ever.
word.
Just stopped by Gamestop during lunch to order COD MW 2. Aliens: Colonial Marines isn't canned, it's set for release in 2011. More bad news, well that's a switch.
Anyway, there is a "Aliens vs Predator" game for xbox 360 coming out in February I think. While I cringe at the entire concept of combining these two worlds, you can be a colonial marine in this game and you can finally fire a ...

Why so negative Morris? There has been an AvP games series for PC since the 1990s...I own them all and they're great! Don't confuse the AvP games with the AvP movies....and just so you know: you can play the Alien, The Predator AND the Colonial Marine in the series.

Same with Me: AvP2 tops the first AvP due to the storyline...and the 'exo-suit' doesn't become a factor until practically the end--up to that point you're mostly a 'crunchy'--but MAN do you ever have great weapons! NM
Definitely AVP2. IMHO, the marine missions are the highlight of the game where at times you have to maneuver your way in total darkness with just a flashlight and motion detector as your only guide to another where you get to pilot a armed exosuit similar to the powerloader. The only downsides is that the weapon sounds are a little off from the movie and the game engine doesn't really give you that gun-and-spray feel of modern shooters....
