Thread: The Sociopathic Epidemic

November 04, 2009 The Sociopathic Epidemic By Robin of Berkeley American Thinker [Excerpted] I'm amazed by the soothsayers: Ayn Rand, for instance, who warned us fifty years ago of the risk of dictatorship or civil war if collectivism persisted. Or economist Friedrich Hayek, who wrote in the 1940s that we'll become serfs if we move toward big government. However, what feels most ...

I just cannot phathom 20 people participating in or watching the assault and rape of a 15 year old girl. Every single one of them should go to prison for a long, long time.

Once again the lady nails it. Definately worth reading.

No freaking way that they should be allowed to continue polluting ...

The entitlement mentality of the younger generation is a big part of this. When you feel entitled to everything you want, when you want it, and consequences be damned, this is what you get. That is the root to sociopathic thought -- that you are above having to follow the laws because you are superior and entitled to the world and all that's in it. The concept of having to earn your food...

QUOTE (lyria @ Nov 5 2009, 07:31 AM) Exactly, Riothouse. Exactly. Take that one step farther - when you are the most important person in the world, how much of a leap is it to think that you are the only real person in the world? There's the sociopathic mindset. The gang rape story blows my mind. I can understand not stepping in to stop it. With a group like that, it's asking ...

QUOTE (Riothouse @ Nov 5 2009, 12:43 AM) The police can't be there when a brat of today decides he wants your car or your daughter. I can speak to the bold portion personally. During my car-jacking, as I was being pistol-whipped and subsequently beaten, my attacker uttered, and I do quote: "nothing personal man, I just want your car"

Nails it. We are reaping the rewards of 25 years of focusing on self-esteem over intellect in our schools. And yet, The Left still won't acknowledge that there is even a problem. I hear coworkers and my housemate claim that crime and society is no different today than 50 years ago. We just have better media coverage, which makes it appear different.

QUOTE (the minister's wife @ Nov 6 2009, 11:30 AM) In particular I felt this when having to take care of my infant daughter without the help of either grandmother whilst my husband worked. Yes, Lyria, it takes two parents at the very least. But in the case of small children the more the better. The mother needs the support of other mothers(preferably from the family so you can hear the stories like: oh, yeah I remember...

I am probably a radical any more when it comes to education. I think that the cost of public education (and I'm not just talking taxes) for the supposed benefit of it has become greatly unbalanced. Now that the State has assumed the responsibility for educating our Nations children, many parents have assumed that this also means the school is responsible for raising them in general. Students may spend more time at home, but the bulk of...

QUOTE (Floridamom @ Nov 5 2009, 03:05 PM) We were in Lake Tahoe when this happened and it was covered quite extensively on the local news. Apparently, this particular school has had rampant security problems. They even had police at the dance. However, every single security personnel on duty there that were stationed inside. None were outside. According to local coverage many students, teachers, and parents have long sounded...

I do think the country's going to hell and I do have this sense that there aren't enough parents and that lots of parents aren't parent-like enough. But I was kinda surprised by what I experienced last weekend. Friday night, I went to a high school football game. I hadn't done this since I was in high school. It was fun. It was in a kinda rural and affluent neighborhood like where I grew up. The high school kids not on the...
