Thread: The Recaro Como is starting to squish my son

We just moved by son up to the top slots on the Como.  He has plenty of room height-wise.  the problem is that the seat gets narrower as it gets taller (we have one of the original comos).   It is starting to squish his shoulders a bit (and we don't use coats in the carseats, so it isn't that).  He says it doesn't bother him, but is it still safe?  at what point wouldn't it be safe?   He ...

Your DS is no longer safe when he feels squished enough to not sit properly in his seat.  If he starts complaining or is really fidgety, it is probably time to move him to a combination seat (or a booster if he is physically and emotionally ready at that point). Recaro does design their seats narrow.  Having your DS's shoulders wedged in his car seat is in some ways packaging him in styrofoam...
