Lab puppies are very smart and they can learn earlier than many other puppies. It is better to start their training at early stage just to make them a civilized one, when they are matured. Joy, just curious, why, "good stay" or "good sit" instead of a single syllable marker?

I start obedience on my way out of the kennel with a 7 week old. it walks on a loose leash.

There is no reason why while learning all the above, some training can't be started on simple obedience and manners. Feeding time is an ideal time to teach a pup as young as 7 wks to sit on command, and withing days to teach the beginnings of stay. Holding the dish over the pups head and say "sit", while moving dish above from front to back of dog. When pup tips head back far enough he will ...
