For Nuvo ( http://www.nuvo.net/entertainment/article/bill-sch eft-keeping-letterma n-and-us-laughing ), Bill Scheft, one of David Letterman shows' writers, talks about his career and, questioned about Joaquin's appearance, reveals that it was all an act!
Thanks to Panthea for www.discoveringjoaquin.com !
Nuvo: Tell me what it was like backstage after the Joaquin Phoenix appearance.
...
Most people knew this already. If Joaquin planned to fool the world...he failed. lol Not surprising 'news'.
**Don't like it? kiss my rump, just for a minute lets all do the bump**
I think that most people "suspected" this and I wouldn't say that "most" people "knew" this when I read all the threads here dealing with Joaquin's perturbed and sick state of mind...
Now we've got the confirmation from a sure source and not from our own opinion.
True, most people suspected- but a legit inside confirmation is good .
The more evidence we get in favour of his weirdo behaviour the past year being a put on, the less we'll worry about him being one of these guys that end up dead or rocking back and forth in their own reclusive filth talking to shoe boxes.
This is good news.
COR is now recruiting!...come over to the dark side . ...
Confirmation is always good, but I always knew it was an act. I didn't just suspect it was. To me it was so obvious that he was acting, and I couldn't even believe some people thought he wasn't.
Him nearly breaking out into laughter several times on Letterman, the way his entire demeanor changed once the interview was over, Casey following him around with a camera...hell even Letterman's ...
After 10 seconds of the show, I was laughing, laughing, laughing. Yes, it was obvious that it was an act from Joaquin (but from Letterman, I had doubts). The problem is that the obivous wasn't obvious for so many.
I regret that this interview by one of the most reliable persons about this hasn't been relayed by the same medias that spat on Joaquin...
I'm also happy to have it confirmed. Yeah, I guess I "knew" (although you can never be 100% certain) that Joaquin acted like he did on purpose, but I wasn't sure if it was an act that Letterman was in on, or if it was Joaquin deliberately ruining his career. I'm glad to hear it seems to have been the former. It will be interesting to see what all of this will lead to. We definitely don't "know" ...
Well, it's good to know that he won't end up like his brother.
Just for the record, this guy going public with this info that it was all staged now, I dunno. It's kinda lame.
If they're gonna go through with this, at least they ought to make sure nobody goes babbling about the big joke before the actual coming out party.
Provide for us, oh, great psychedelic papa!
I still don't think of it as just a 'big joke'. I'm pretty sure it's a different kind of project. As long as we don't know what that's about, a movie or something else, it may not even matter that people are babbling.
Thanks, Commodia. I'm glad it was all an act. Can't say I'm one of those clever people who knew all along. I was one of those "wait and see what's going on" kinda people. Hope this means that Joaquin's film is going to be released soon.
I'm not sure if I cared if it was fake or not, I do recall thinking that I hope Joaquin is ok regardless. But that was funny when he stuck his gum on the desk, I chuckled at that part
Hahaha yeah bemorecynical that was exactly what I picked up as well "Slowed vision comprehension" how can you measure that from just watching his appearances!?!? haha Totally agree with what you wrote. And for the record - regarding the Letterman thing - I didn't think he acted like any drug addict I've ever seen - the "not present" thing was there but I didn't see a tick or him going...
It's not safe to assume that everyone here has never been in the presence of someone with substance abuse problems, but aside from that, do you still think he is faking this? Which I still think is something he wouldn't do, having lost his brother to it and having no history of making fun of the troubled--quite the opposite. Or are you saying that he genuinely is an addict, because these ticks can't be faked? I guess it...

If you paid a visit to a rehabilitation clinic you'd know what I am talking about. Drug addicts have ticks about them that are very easy to distinguish from non-drug users. Just a fact. "Are you a girl, or are you not?"
what i mean by "bigger star" is this: if a bigger star suddenly started doing this stuff, it would be sort of fascinating (if done well). However, Joaquin is already a little odd. He already seemed to be a bit on the fringes. Honestly, he could have an actual, honest-to-god, full on public meltdown tomorrow, and although it would be briefly entertaining, i think most people would just be left trying to remember what movies...
