Thread: Thanksgiving Dinner Suggestions

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by luv4travelNJ
I am arriving in St. John on Thanksgiving Day and staying at Caneel Bay. I'm looking for a fun place for Thanksgiving dinner, and I do not necessary need to eat at Caneel. I would also prefer local cuisine or seafood to a traditional thanksgiving style feast. Can you offer some suggestions or recommendations? I've never been to St. John during Thanksgiving, so I don't know how crowded ...

I love The Fish Trap. You might want to give them a call to see if they are open on Thanksgiving. You might have a problem with finding restaurants that are open on this holiday. If you cant find anything open, just stay at Caneel. The food is always good there!! Helen

Foxy's on Jost Van Dyke in the BVI has a Thanksgiving feast with a Caribbean twist. worldeventsguide.com/event/1473/Great-Harbou…

No Problem! Wouldn't the problem with eating at JVD is getting back to St. John? It would be hard for them to get there on their travel day to the island as well. Helen

Foxy's would definitely be great, but I don't think we could get there since we will arrive at Caneel around 2:00. I'll probably stick with the Equator, but I appreciate the suggestions! We will be going to JVD on Saturday.

The buffet at Caneel will most likely have a great spread.Depending on your arrival time you may be quite tired .It does not sound practical to try to get over to jost on a travel day at all.If you are planning on eating at caneel for the buffet I suggest picking up the mealplan for that day as it is much more reasonable than paying for the buffet as a stand alone meal. When you add in ...

The Foxy's Thanksgiving feast lasts 3 days, so there should be some leftovers when you get there. :-) There's also a pot-luck Thanksgiving Dinner at Skinny Legs in Coral Bay with a slow-roasted pig. You could take beverages or bring cranberry something from the States.

Depending on what time you arrive and make it to Skinnys for Thankspigging (it is pot luck) the food might be over as it starts around 4pm (I believe) Pia

The Caneel steakhouse at turtle bay reopens for the season on November 22.They also have amazing food ,top quality ,comparable to nyc steaks and fish with great sides. You can customize your plate as all side items can be ordered alacarte.Go one day just for the trufflr mac and cheese!

If You're choices were Equator or Skinny's, I would stick with the Equator, no question. Stay, relax, watch the sunset, and enjoy a great dinner and evening right where you are......very nice. Start you're running around the next day.
