Not only should we be teaching our children to read but to write, and to be able to do simple math. I am always amazed when I go to a store and have purchases that total $4.55 and you hand the cashier $5 dollars and a nickel and they have to look at the register and seem confused. Thank god the machine does the thinking for them because they would never finish a transaction. Why can't schools go ...

I hope parents actually read this an encourage their kids to read. If more kids read books we would have less crack dealing thugs on the streets.

Judged: 2 CASD is really starting to irritate me. I didn't spend $300 on as PS3 and another $500 on games to have them sit unused while they read a book!

It does not matter how many administrators, actors or dignitaries that the school district parades through the classrooms. If mom and/or dad do not emphasize to their children that education and learning is their current job, the school can do little to assist them.

Despite all of the technological advancements in the last 15 years one thing still holds true. He who is well read is very intelligent. Parents don't allow your dork kid to skip school so that he can play Halo online for 7 hours straight.
