Seems quiet lately. I always check the webcam to see if the action is picking up at all. http://www.tawasbayweather.com/

Nothing yet. Could be any day, it's like waiting for Christmas.

Reel Fishn replied 2 months ago
I think it is better than Christmas really, cuz you know they are down there and sooner or later you gonna get them. Christmas, there are always boxes, but hardly want you want in them. Mark

I'm in the mood for a fish fry. If the whitefish aint happenin I'll be more than happy to turn my attention to walleye. I've always wanted to try burbot also. Sounds like a lot of possibilities. Can't wait till Friday.

I would think Tawas and Oscoda will both be firing up within the next week or so. Remember when fishing those two places, you could be setting the hook into anything out there man!

Just got back from Tawas and not a sole on the pier at midnight, a VERY BAD SIGN. Fished for 4 hours and caught 15 rock bass, some nice ones tho. Hopefully they start coming in soon. Mark

Thanks for report Mark. Will probobly make a run one night next week up there. Busy getting perch and walleye here right now. Did you keep those rockies? There pretty good eating, especially out of that water. Grew up eating them from Alcona pond by glennie, just as good as the perch and gills.

Reel Fishn replied 2 months ago
No, I put them all back and there were some big ones. Mark

As said in an earlier post, I am looking forward to finally getting after some Tawas whitefish - thus, a couple quick questions: Seems like everyone is talking night - is that a rule or a preference? Next - I keep hearing they are not any good to eat unless they are fresh - why would you keep more then 2 in that case, or are they better in the smoker? thanks FishingJoe

They are bitchen about it thats why I asked you if thats what all the fighting was over. The reason there not on this site complaining about it is because most of the people I talk to out there don't know it exists. They complained to the DNR about it and there telling people that are targeting them that they would appreciate it if they would catch there 3 and leave that they are killing most of the ones they catch and release. Were you...

I was out there from about 10PM to 2 AM last night, saw alot of fish on the pier, but all I caught was a gobie. There was one small section of the pier where a guy was pulling them out left and right. Nobody else was really catching any, other than him while I was out there.

Predators eating the stocked trout in Lake Huron is one of the biggest problems in the lake. Many have bitched about the DNR's management of Lake Huron in the past and now they are trying something new that could really help the lake. Stocking browns 12-15" in the fall after the cormorants have migrated south. The only predator these trout have now is anglers. In my opinion for so called anglers to target these trout and or kill...

Some people fish under a bobber but most fish right off the side with spring bobbers (see picture on page 3)

I think there are the people that are less informed, and then there are the people who just dont care. The fish were planted like they were for a reason, so that they wouldnt be harassed as much after they were released. And i'm sure that a couple that are caught by man in that bay have far less impact than a flock of cormorats would, but in this case with big browns being as scarce as they are, i would hope to believe that people would...
