Thread: TYPICAL of a Newbee to Be....Need Help!

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by DeJae
Hi All, Well, as most of you might remember, we aren't supposed to do this till Mid 2010. We have a possible Motorhome that if all goes the right way, we will be buying, but like everything, it takes time. They are from Weatherford TX and we are from Henderson, NV so it will take some to work this all out completely. It is a 2004 Fleetwood Excursion with 12,115 miles on it. We are ...

For a realistic value you need more information than that as there are five versions of the 2004 Excursion shown in the NADA website . That is the place to start, once you know the specifics of the unit. An even better way would be to get as much information about it as possible and then visit a main library and ask in the reference section to use their paper version of the NADA book for ...

As the tires may be very near their end of life time limit (regardless of the limited mileage), consider what the replacements will cost. Granted, not much in the grand scheme of things, but something to factor in, as a bargaining chip perhaps. Regards Gemstone

Hey Judi, Exciting news!!!!!!! I'd ask for the service/repair records!!!!! You can learn a lot from them. First, and foremost, you will see if the coach has been properaly maintained, and next, you will see if there are any recurring problems. I would be concerned if the owner either doesn't have the records, that would indicate to me a lack of care, or if he doesn't want to share them...

Don't assume that because there are no service records that the coach has not been cared for. I have a 2001 5er and have no service records to speak of. The ONLY thing that has been done to "service" this rig is the Norcold refigerator recall. Other than that, no "service" has been required other than packing wheel bearings, and I doubt that I have records of that other than credit card ...

QUOTE (DeJae @ Nov 10 2009, 07:05 PM) Or are there certain things I would want to be asking them that should be included that I will like dropdead want or need to be included? I'm not entirely clear on what you're asking here, but as Kirk said, you should get a list of all the equipment on board. If it doesn't come with something you need/want, then you'll have to decide whether...

Thank you all Kirk I would say covered what I was getting at. The situation is that I saw it in a owner seller site online a few weeks ago. I emailed them but (I didn't know) they were on Vacation, not sure if it was in the RV or not yet. Anyway, they answered me and they answered the questions I already had sent them and were willing to entertain some of my requests. But by this time, ...

Congratulations on your find. I bought my County Coach at Fun Time RV in Aledo, Texas (maybe five miles from Weatherford) and was treated very well. I might have paid less with more homework up front, but I am very happy with my choice. If you need more local contacts, I will help where I can. Currently I am in Oregon. All really good answers from the previous posters (as expected) - I...

Even on a motorhome - may not have records. I have never HAD the oil changed in the truck in 350K miles. Brakes, filters, trans oil, nothing. The only thing that I HAVE HAD DONE are the factory recalls. The truck has had the oil changed --- by me -- every 10,000 miles, filters as appropriate, brake pads, rotors, brake lines, trans fluid, clutches, throwout bearings, tires, bearings ...

THANKS JACK FOR THE RESOURCE OFFER! Might need it. Bill you are absolutely right, my cars don't have any track record either, Hubby does all the work. If all the cards fall in the right direction, we will FOR SURE, hire a professional inspector, if we can find one in Texas. Jack or anyone know of a really good detailed one? Judi

QUOTE (kath31 @ Nov 11 2009, 04:04 PM) Sounds good!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, I like the fact the seller is more than ok with an independent inspector. No mention of tires, do you know if they are original? If so, plan to replace. Don't be deceived by the 12k mileage, it's age that makes tires dangerous. As...
