They can spot out liquids in a heart beat but I'm not sure about a gun or explosives as told about in reports. BTW this isn't DL specific and should be in the security forum.

The guy in front of us begins a conversation with his wife about it. Doesn't think smaller than 3oz needs to be out. We tell him it does. He decides not to take them...
