Thread: TBI wiring???

Started 4 months ago by compoundfractureracing
Well we are going to try this again...today we picked up everything out of an 87 chevy tbi and we have everything except what's mounted in the cab. Just wondering how to set this up without having the fuse box from the inside of the cab? Somebody told us some sensors aren't used along with hard wiring some stuff. If anybody knows and could help out with this that would be ...

You will need the harness from the computer and the cluster if you putting in the same body style. What are you putting this motor in? I did this on my buban let me know I maybe some help.

compoundfractureracing replied 4 months ago
what cluster you talking about? we got the computer and main wiring harnness. it's going in the truggy..we already have the tbi motor with a carb intake on it...we wanna finish what we started basically. we just don't have the fuse block that was under the dash in the truck or anything for that matter from inside the truck.

redneckchevy replied 4 months ago
You still have the fuse block in the truggy it will be the same if you want the gauges to work you will need the gauge cluster for the tbi motor.

compoundfractureracing replied 4 months ago
we dont' have a cluster in the truggy or a fuse block...everything is on toggles and have individual fuses wired in. We only have temp, oil, tach for gauges all after market stuff

there was some diagrams on here but i bet they are gone cause it was something twisted posted for me. i have some info somewhere i will find a what wires need power and what wires are ground, give me a day or two and i can find it

this is for a 92 tbi camaro but it might help. http://www.austinthirdgen.org/mkport...ine_wiring. gif

compoundfractureracing replied 4 months ago
we got that diagram in our books...we are eliminating half that cause it's not needed so we are told. Well we found a fuse block to possibly use to plug into to get it running..then possibly cut wires to see what ones are need?!?!?!

redneckchevy replied 4 months ago
If you dont have one I got one in a 86 burban you can have.

compoundfractureracing replied 4 months ago
thanks, but cowboy really doesn't want a fuse block...he's got a theroy to his madness with his wiring he already has with his toggles...i'll take a few pics today of what we have so you understand.

Where the F is Twistedwrench!!!!! (yes I know) He probably could wire it in his sleep. You shouldn't need a factory fuse block but you should fuse the power into the ecm

No , It does not matter what engine you have nor what system it was from. You can use the 4.3 system on a 350 if you want. You can also do the same for the Vortec. You can swap a 305 where there was a 350 and a 350 where there was a 305. When it comes to emissions and such and maybe that last bit of performance it will matter that you have the corect matched parts. But other then that it will still run out like a champ. Been there, done that,...

The tbi should run at 13 psi , Also make sure you have good clean grounds. These systems a little picky with the grounds.
