Thread: Surcharges.

It's rather ironic that ebay introduced this idea on the basis that buyers were getting ripped off by unscrupulous sellers overcharging on P&P when the end result of the policy change is that sellers are now encouraged by ebay to rip off their customers! If a buyer now buys more than one item from a seller (and about 40% of my customers do) they will have paid the full postage price for each ...

Can I come in here as both a buyer and seller. Firsly I have read so many rants about free P/P and the effect on sales because of higher start prices. Now we have sellers wanting to add even more onto the sale. As a buyer I would have hesitation whatsoever in pressing the back button on any listing which displays surcharges.

A Complaint will be made to the cssf in Luxembourg for Non Compliance,Lets see what happens, has eBay once again IGNORED the EU Law?

bankhaunter replied 1 month, 4 weeks ago
I completely fail to see why the OP. is so keen to upset and put off buyers by surcharging the buyer's favourite way of paying.

A Complaint will be made to the cssf in Luxembourg for Non Compliance A complaint against whom? I completely fail to see why the OP. is so keen to upset and put off buyers by surcharging the buyer's favourite way of paying. Must be a retro-seller who hasn't realised that surcharging went out of fashion years ago, long before Ebay banned it on their site.

Do you pay by Direct Debit? if Not, then you will be Charged a SURCHARGE, Incorrect. When Direct Debit was introduced, people who used it were given a discount. Those who did not use it were not charged extra.

PayPal say: 4.5 Non discouragement..... You agree that you will only surcharge for the use of PayPal in compliance with any law applicable to you. You further agree that if you do charge a buyer any form of surcharge that you, and not PayPal, will inform the buyer of the requested charge. PayPal has no liability to any buyer where you have failed to inform the buyer of any surcharge. You acknowledge that if you are permitted to surcharge and...
