Thread: Sunday Lunch near Port of Miami

Started 2 months ago by windsor
We depart on a cruise in early December and would like to find a spot for a casual lunch with good food....good view, no long waits and easy to find a bonus. Thai, Indian, salad bar, dive bar with good eats...open to pretty much anything.

You could try the Hard Rock Cafe at Bayside Market Place (right infront of the Port) -- they are casual, on the water, etc. The downtown area is usually pretty dead on the weekends, and a lot of areas around the Arena aren't that great to be walking around... Bayside is likely your best bet.

Thanks Sobe, I am glad I asked. Any recs for Bayside, Coral Gables other areas? Time will not be an issue, but someplace easy to find with decent parking would be idle.

Why not have lunch on the ship? That's the first thing we do when we board!

The options at Bayside are mostly chains and not very good, though it is one of the few places you might find a good view. Many of the places in downtown are closed on the weekend. A few places you might want to check out -> Botequim Carioca, a new Brazilian place on Biscayne Blvd at 9th St. http://botequim-carioca.de/ Bin 18, Biscayne Blvd. & 18th St.; closed Sunday. http://www.bin18miami...

Better than what I have heard and a great great food and atmosphere with free poarking good value and close to the port-Perricone's Marketplace-all kinds of food-and take out as well you cant go worong-forget the chain and the mundane!!!

If you don't mind going a little further you could goto Mary Brickell Village which is just about 5 minutes South of the Port... they have better spots than you will find at Bayside (mostly touristy chains). They have Perricone's, Balan's, Rosa Mexicano that are all open on Sunday's . See: http://marybrickellvillage.com/ for more information.

Here are more good reasons not to eat at Bayside -> http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/shorto...

Thanks for the replies. Our travel info arrived today and we will not be able to board ship until 2:00. The posts about Perricone's and the Mary Brickell Village look interesting. I think we will just head there around 11am walk around and find a place for lunch. Gotta love Chowhounds!

Just FYI I have never had anything better than a mediocre meal at Perricone's. It is a charming space though.

Ok, now I know where not to eat and places closed on Sundays. Any ideas of a place with decent food that is open on Sunday. It doesn't have to be near the port of Miami...just easy to find.

A few more ideas -> Latin Cafe 2000 (Biscayne Blvd. & 25th St.) does serviceable if unexceptional Cuban food and is open Sundays. http://www.latincafe2000.com/ Michael's Genuine Food & Drink in the Design District (40th St) in one of the best restaurants in town and recently started doing an a la carte Sunday brunch. http://www.michaelsgenuine.com/ I have never been, but there's a place in the Brickell area...
