Thread: Stuck oil filter

Hi Anyone got any ideas on how to remove an oil filter that wont budge. Iv\'e turned it into swiss cheese trying to put a screw driver through and turn it, but wont budge... just slicing through the metal casing. And yes i am turning it the right way.... . Cheers guys any help would be appreciated. Jordan

Get a oil filter attachment for a socket wrench, well worth the money!

That\'s why you should never do that The ones that go on sockets are the best IMO. Good for doing stupid FWD\'s too. If you are only going to be working on Zeds then get the handle one.

I use large multi grips, they work on the smallest filters all the up to filters 6" in diameter.

Yeah i started from the bottom but then went from the top. With the battery removed it gives much more room to get a lever or wrench around it.

i know its a commo.. because its a side mounted filter on a commodore... alot of people do it form the top but for some reason i find it easier to do it from the bottom because theres nothing in your way...

I got a TT oil filter T bracket I can do for 20 bucks if yours ends up with a stripped thread. edit his car is a commo
