Hi trying to look at coming out next year and taking the kids to a nascar or a similar event in Aug 2010. We will be staying in orlando but will travel within reason. Can anyone please direct me to a web site, event or raceway that has a race. thanks
There is not any major Nascar events in the area that time of year. How ever Florida has a lot to offer in Stock Car racing. To start with you could do a trip to Daytona and do the Daytona USA tour and track tour. As far as racing you have Orlando speed way which is a pave track with some good racing. Also there is New Symra speedway which is also a pave track just south of Daytona....
I think John144 was referring to New Smyrna Speedway, in Samsula - and Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville.

Titusville is just a short drive up to Daytona. you can take I95 from Titusville to Daytona. I forget the exit but it's marked for the track. From 95 the tracks about a mile. Parking is a pain but if you already have ordered your tickets they usually send information on remote parking and will bus you to the track. Plan on getting to the track early because of all the vendors set up ...
We have been owners at Traders for over 20 years and we love it. We always go the 2nd wk of Sept. There are no crowds at all at that time. The staff has remained mostly the same and are always friendly. My kids are now 14 and 15. They look foweard to our Florida trip ever year. Traders isn't brand spankin new, but has been kept up very well. It is always clean and is family oriented. ...
Correction -- correction -- correction...
as was just at Ocean walk and got home yesterday...any 28 unit --- north tower -- just off ocean...as 27 is oceanfront.
28 is first on the north end....and is oceanview....
Sorry
Bluzin1,
Wow - thanks for thinking about me and giving me the update -that was very nice of you! I understand that I can call a couple of weeks before we arrive and "request" an ocean front room and because it is my "home" resort I have a good chance of getting one - we will see <G> put it to the test. Thanks again.
Hi Lass, Rates will be highest during that period. You will not have any problems booking summer between now and May... If you can wait until the last minute, you will be able to get a better rate.. Also, If you can travel after those dates in the late Aug - Sept period you can also get good rates during perfect weather.....barring any unforeseen storms... May is also a good time for perfect weather economical rates... I disagree with what...
Thanks for the replies! We loved Ocean Deck, Kahuna's, Robbie O'Connells and The Tavern. We were ambivalent about Oyster Pub. We HATED Cruisin' Cafe. $4 for a CAN of beer - especially when the place was dead empty? This wasn't bike week so why charge bike week prices?
I dont fly out until the 2nd feb unfortunatly. I've been to Daytona a few bit.. 10 days there last year, 10 again next year and many days inbetween.. never at new year though.. we always go for Feb Speedweeks. Where are you stopping in Daytona? Grantham is ok i suppose !!!
Can we all agree that anytime you are driving in an area you are not familiar with you should err on the side of caution and drive the lowest possible speed limit until you see a sign indicating otherwise. I got a ticket in Ponce about 5 years ago and have driven that road hundreds of times since and do NOT exceed the limit. See it works! Ponce has bucks falling out of it's coffers, but good for them. They can provide great services to...
half-Brit: Every time you post a reply to one on my posts, it gives me another opportunity to warn motorists about excessive traffic fines imposed by Ponce Inlet. But to answer your latest reply ... Sigh . . . (concur) > So why should anyone "exceed the posted speed limit"? Hmmm. Not being aware of the area and getting in too much of a hurry. A costly mistake in Ponce Inlet. That's my situation. It wasn't...
Yes, it's a definite downer when you have to leave, espeically when you have to come home to a nightmarish job with lots of stress. Hopefully, it won't be 2 years this time before I make it back again.
Our kids will be there, but I've never gone so can only think to add that the food and drink is expensive (just like other sports events like NFL, NBA, etc)
Do they want to stay in the middle of everything, or on the quiet side of town? DaytonaHotels.com has many choices on the strip. Ocean Walk and Daytona Regency all have kitchens and are right on the strip too. The best place on the southern end is Perry's Ocean Edge, 3 pools and all kinds of activities. Hope this helps.
Really don"t know if I ever will get back there as friends invited us to their time share. I don't normally vacation in Florida . I like the real hot weather in Mexico in February . That said I really liked The Flagler beach area and the drive up A1A to St Augustine ,like to spend some time there. Daytona was a very relaxing place at this time of the year no traffic or crowds, and some very good beach time.Plenty of places to...
