If it doesn't say "women's knickers" anywhere visible and its comfy, then I don't see any problem wearing 'em.
<------ -SShhh. ...... ' been using a women specific saddle lately. Why? Because its comfy.
My stepdad rides a custom Bruce Gordon on the Katy Trail, but it has much fatter tires than a normal road bike. He strongly recommended against a skinny-tired road bike (I'm not yet familiar with bike tire sizes), although he said a road bike would work with fatter tires.

I ride a cyclocross with 28 mm tires. These are fine for cracked pavement and packed dirt trails, but 35 mm tires are better for gravel. For keeping up with the roadies, it depends on your legs.

I have a pannier bag that was left sitting in the sun for a very, very long time and has faded from it's original black colour to a splotchy grey colour. Other than looking rather crappy, the panniers are in pretty good shape but I'd like to have the bag look a bit better. Has anyone had any luck using a dye on panniers ...
after trying, and hating, two separate Brooks' saddles, I am pretty happy with my Selle Ellipse Royal with a cutout that costs less than half of what a brooks costs. it really is an individual process for each rider to find one that fits your butt. it sucks, but that's the way it is. I've never done it, but I've heard some shops have a thing where they can measure your sit ...

Well i took the class and I did whatever I wanted. I didn't follow along much and the instructors left me alone. I made it clear by talking to someone else (who also rides) I am rider so they just let me be.
I agree with the ATB with slimmer tires. you might get more bike for your money. I also agree with getting what the shop recomends to you. they likely have sold hundreds of bikes to college students.

Local bike shops often sell junk as well so buying from one is no guarantee of quality. Maybe they might have some bikes that aren't as good as others, but you generally get some kind of warranty and free tune-ups with even the crappiest LBS machines. This isn't a strong argument for buying from Target.
"Competitive" for what? It's certainly a nice, rideable bike (a friend of mine has one he bought new in college, and rides it often even though he has a Litespeed and several other bikes). I don't remember exactly where it fit in the spectrum of Centurion bikes of that time, but as I recall it was toward the top of the line. There's nothing wrong with those old bikes--I have a Trek from the same era that was...
