Hi I'm having trouble connecting the new Sony Ericsson W995 Mobile Phone to a toshiba notebook running Windows 7. The error appears after finding the device and just before you enter the pins to pair the device. Now connecting to your bluetooth device - Error: "Detection of service failed" I have tested a Nokia mobile, Bluetooth Stereo and a headset sucessfully on the notebook running windows...
i had this problem too - i just got w995 and i cant even get my bluetooth detected with my window vista damn! it works fine for all other models... so what is the problem Vista or w995??? w995 connect to my bluetooth handfree can but this one cannot...
I'm not sure that BT in Win7 is all that stable. I have a Nokia E71 that will connect via BT sometimes, sometimes not, sometimes when it's connected, it'll work great, and then sometimes, it'll fail. There are lots of complaints all over this board (and others) about the reliability of BT on Win7.
It's a problem with the combination of the Toshiba Bluetooth stack and the W995 and it (probably) wont be fixed. It works with older SE phones like C702, but not with the latest models like W995, C901 etc. No problem with Microsoft/Broadcom though. I´m running Vista and as you say the Toshiba Bluetooth stack detects the phone but fails to detect the services supported.
Thats pretty much it. Detects the phone but not the services. A Shame that it "probably" wont be fixed. Sony Ericsson have released such a good mobile phone but failed to have it working correctly with Windows 7 / Vista. Does anyone know if the W995 works with non-Toshiba notebooks running Windows 7? My friend that I mentioned earlier had trouble with her Dell notebook, Windows 7 and a new ...
Did you try changing the security level of the Toshiba Bluetooth stack? Right-mouse-click on Bluetooth system tray icon -> Options... -> Security -> Custom Level... Under "Mode" check "Link level enforced security". It works (discovering services and connecting) then I´m testing W995 and C901, but of course there could be side effects as the doctor would say :-).
OK. It works then I´m testing. But I´m running Vista SP2 (don´t think SP version is significant here) and the SW-version (Settings->General->Update service->Software version) of the W995 is R1FA031 (definetely significant). Tested both as an administrator and with a standard account.
RESOLVED & WORKING New Toshiba Bluetooth stack 7.10.04 seems to now work with Sony Ericsson PC Suite 6.009.00 Using Sony Ericsson W995 and latest firmware. Also got a bluetooth connection using a Belkin USB dongle instead of the Toshiba Bluetooth device. So I think the issue would have been with the previous Toshiba drivers.

Hi, i had the same issue with my C702i with my Dell Windows 7. It works fine after I made the correct setting. Go to your Bluetooth Setting , click on the tab Share , tick allow remote devices to browse , send and recieve pictures , music and other files.
hi i have a w880i and an old x-micro bluetooth dongle with broadcom 2035 chip. i've been using this combo for ages with winxp. now, with win7, all i got is problems and troubles. at the end, it turned out that the win7 built-in driver for this broadcom device is the culprit. installed the newest ones from broadcom, and voila, most of the problems are gone. but not all of them. i can pair the phone with the pc fine. i can send files in...
