Thread: Songs load slow since iTunes 9 update

I'm in the reasonably well organized 'category' with my music collection, I've around 80 or 90Gb of music (connected to a 500Gb gtech-GDrive via USB 2) .. should be fine, in fact it was.. What I don't understand about all this is that some tracks play fine, some don't..they get beach ball.. My content varies by being imported from my cd collection, vinyl thats been digitized to tracks I've made in...

hi there, I tried playing songs from itunes store and yes, they do start quick. But so do many others in my library. Thanks to your post, though, I've noticed that - in my case - AAC files always start immediately while mp3 (VBR or not) always lag. (sample size n = approx. 10) mp3 playback lags between 1 and 4 sec. Agreed with the solution of unticking the 'keep my itunes library organised'. If you guys remove the tick everything should function well, I've just tried it. Macbook Pro 17" (First Intel Version), iPhone 3Gs, iPod classic 120gb   Mac OS X (10.6)    

Clicked "Let iTunes Manage My Library" to "OFF". Went to iTunes preferences > Advanced > Clicked Manage My Library "OFF" > Clicked "RESET". I was having lag problems a few weeks ago. Things I have done since then... -upgrade to snow leopard -create a fresh itunes library and reimport all my media That seemed to clear them up. Not having any issues in iTunes 9. Mac Mini 3,1   Other OS    

SO slow since iTunes 9. slow ripping and slow on the wireless uptake. PLEASE Apple, stop treating us all like beginners. An idea: how about two Apps, 1 called Itunes-Early and iTunes- Advanced (for advanced users only). Not exactly sure when I updated to iTunes 9, so I can not be certain the problems I am seeing are related to this or not. But itunes has become extremely slow. I have all my files on an external drive connected by USB2 port, but for a while now, it seems impossible to import enw music files or update tags. Currently 30GB f songs in my library, but I have still a lot of music I am sorting while adding them to itunes. 70Gb about remaining. I do...

I found that toggling "Keep my itunes folder organized" off seemed to remedy the problem. My only guess is that there is some background processing going on with the new update.
