You sure it isn't the type of weapon they're using? Not like this is fact or anything, but maybe the sound changes depending on their weapon type.

I'm currently using an Adjudicator's Shield +3 and since I upgraded it yesterday, I've noticed that when enemies hit it, it doesn't make a clanging sound anymore, now it makes a wooden sound. Why has the sound effect changed?

I used it against white skeletons in 4-1 and before I'm pretty sure their weapons made a clanging sound on my shield, now it's changed. Nothing major, I'm just wondering why it's happened.

Interesting, after getting the Gold Mask from 3-2, I went to 4-1 to exchange it for a colourless demon's soul and the sound's gone back to clanging. I upgraded the shield and it's still clanging. Must've been a glitch.

Funny, I always thought that the Adjudicator's Shield is made of wood. No, seriously.

The Adjudicator's Shield IS made of wood. The description of the shield goes something like: A large wooden shield With bright colors, the scene of a dead man's judgement is drawn. On the reverse side, an adage is carved in old letters.
