Thread: Some basic overclocking help needed.

Hi all. I am a complete overclocking newbie. I am reading all i can at the moment b4 i attempt a modest overclock to my new system but i seem to have different RAM to most peoples overclocking a similar system so would appreciate any advice in overclocking my i920 to 3.4GHz (this will do me for now) Here is my system spec... Core i7 Processor i7-920 ASUS RAMPAGE II EXTREME 6GB ...

Hello and welcome to the forums, please put your full system specs in User CP>Extra Options, and fill up a BIOS template with your current settings. That way we will be able to help you. One piece of advice I'll give right away: don't get obsessed with running your memory at a specific speed, just OC the CPU and after that see what memory multiplier is the best for you.

I think even I may be able to help you on this one. I too am very new to overclocking, and am also overclocking an i7 - 920 on an Asus board. I did it in small steps, exactly as Clunk's guide, first to 3360Mhz, then to 3801Mhz, and now currently testing out 4095Mhz. As mentioned earlier do the OC first with you RAM underclocked (this is all explained in Clunk's guide). Then...
