jagshemash, I'm a complete noob to wrestling, I dont even know the diffrence between Greco roman or freestyle wrestling. But I have been planning on training some grappling and i realized that there is a wrestling school not far from where i live. They train mainly greco roman wrestling. But Freestyle aswell. Greco Roman wrestling focuses on upper body, clinch type takedowns, no attacks below the waist. Freestyle allows both clinches and attacks below the waist. What you will learn in either style of wrestling is how to take a person down and how to not be taken down. Matwork in international rules wrestling is limited so I am not sure how much your club will work on the ground although you ...

Another benefit id Dirty Boxing. When you watch Randy and Hendo they bully people in the clinch, handing on you opponent like that also takes some wind out them.

Outside of the techniques you'll learn wrestling, wrestlers are some tough son's of bitches. While in Judo and BJJ there are some "light/easy/laid-back" rolls or randori I've never, ever had a live go in wrestling practice that wasn't 110%. You'll see people complain on this board about wrestlers being "spazzes" but the reason for this is because they only know how to train full speed.

Living in Australia I only heard about folkstyle online, in Wollongong we're getting out first MMA event EVER in November.
