Thread: Sold my G26, too big to carry, considering "mouse" guns

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by TheSandman
I recently sold my G26 because I found it a little uncomfortable to carry (not that it should be) and now am considering something smaller. I am looking into either a PPK, LCP, or Seecamp. I've had little experience with the LCP, I have 2 buddies that carry them and seem to like them. I've always like the look of the PPK's, never held or shot one though. A guy at work told me about the ...

I've found the PPK a bit bulky and heavy for pocket carry, although cargo pockets are OK. I have a Seecamp 32 which carries in a pocket like a .25, it will only feed pricey hollow points, no fmj for the range. A lot of friends are jumping on the LCP bandwagon and seem to be happy with them.

I finally got my hands on an LCP for a good price and I LOVE it. Carry it anywhere, anytime. Save money and probably weight over the seecamp. and the ppk is, IMO a great gun, but they feel awkward to me. I'd go with an LCP or a Walther PPS

Keltec P3AT in 380 or Rhorbaugh in 9mm if you have the $$$.

I own a G26 and agree that its not always easy to carry. I also bought an LCP and the weght is significantly less than the ppk. I thnk the LCP s the way to go here. I can carry it in gym shorts sweat pants no problem. Good luck.

Yeah, my 2 buddies love their LCP's, I've yet to shoot them, I'd like to. The LCP price tag is more applealing too. I've never shot any walther, they seem like well built guns, if I did go with the PPK, I would probably carry it IWB. Plus the PPK would probably be a little more fun at the range. Guess I'll have to run up to the gun shop tomorrow and touchy, feely with the PPK and see what...

Seecamp is well-made, but hard to find, expensive and ammo-sensitive. PPK is a nice gun, slightly smaller then a G26 (mostly thinner). Lately I've been carrying a Polish Radom P-64 (Walther PPK derivative) chambered in 9x18 Makarov, placing it neatly in between .380 and 9mm in terms of power. Nice gun, but even that is not really small enough to fit easily into a jean pocket, and it weighs ...

My bugs make great pocket guns. Sig P238 is the perfect .380 imo, small enough for a pocket with a holster and yet easy to shoot with the metal frame keeping recoil down. Secondly is my Walther PPS 9mm,its pushing pocket sized carry but does fine with a t-shirt untucked in my jeans back pocket. But would be unnoticeable in a waistband holster. Others i like: Kahr PM9 and P380 Taurus...

I don't think good guns are made to be exactly comfortable to carry. I think they should actually be uncomfortable enough that you always know it's there. Last thing I want to do is forget about my tiny little gun in my pocket. The best thing to do is to invest in good carry methods.

I have a SEECAMP in 32. Finding one in 380 is expensive to buy and to feed .It is my EDC. I LIKE THE FEEL OF STEEL.

Quote: I like my Springfield EMP- slightly larger than that sig, but carries 4 more rounds (9+1) of 9mm..... ...it's a bit large for pocket carry.... but it is flat (it's a 1911!), so it carries IWB pretty well. Yeah I looked at it on their website, wish it was .45 though. I'll hold on to the little guy, next gun will be another single stack I can carry.

The Glock is a little thicker. Otherwise about the same. I carry my G26 or a G19 in the same position, Appendix IWB. Sometimes even a G17 there.

Quote: I thought a .380 was considered a 9mm short? I mean, did I make a bad decision on which gun to carry? I figured .380 would be sufficient enough for personal defense, did I go in the wrong direction? For the record too, when I carry the P238, I carry gold dot's. .380 is also called 9mm short; the bullet diameter is the same (.355"), but it is not a derivative or version of 9x19 (also known as 9mm Luger or 9mm Parabellum)....

*sigh* The caliber wars have claimed another victim without a shot being fired.

Quote: For me in a pocket carry it had to be light and small which is why the LCP worked for me. I know the kahrs are small too but to me there just to heavy for the pocket IMO. See, I think you make a point that a lot of people seem to be missing. Sure, there are more than a few handguns out there that are superior to the LCP and its ilk in terms of controllability, firepower, general ergonomics, etc., but how suitable are they for practical...

Sandman-Grats on the purchase! i think im the only one who noticed it since no one reads whats said between the first and last post.Except jontz,he hit reply before i was done typing BTW i suggested the P238,its a great gun. Ive become rather familiar with mine also, its almost exact copy of a series 80 1911 inside the slide,so treat it as one. I carry mine in my back pocket in a Nemisis holster cocked and locked with Speer Gold dots,Corbon...

I have an MP 340 as well as the LCP and there is no comparison on which one is easier to carry. For me in a pocket carry it had to be light and small which is why the LCP worked for me. I know the kahrs are small too but to me there just to heavy for the pocket IMO. As for the tests and reviews and so on. Tests only tell you so much lets be realistic and look at the number of times someone shoots an attacker yet the attacker continues on with...
