The kid didn't even do that much, I'm not sure why everyone keeps pushing this point. He got his ass kicked over and over throughout the movie and didn't actually beat anyone major (aside from some nameless warriors). The only thing he actually did right was destroy a statue and stab the immortal which was pushed over to him. He really wasn't anything special which was the whole point of the movie.
