Thread: So many allergies So overwhelmed!

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by angtran29
My dd just had testing she's severely allergic to peanuts along with milk, eggs, soy, and wheat.  She is about to turn one and I just don't know what to do.  The allergist did not give us much advice.  This is all sinking in now.  What will she drink?  Does anyone recommend meeting with a nutritionist? Anyone else's kids have this many allergies?  TIA!

My DS has more.  ;) You'll be fine.  She'll be fine.  Just breathe!  I am top 8+ oats, gluten grains, quinoa, sesame, corn, coconut, and most recently pineapple and beef-free. Our ped did send us to a pediatric nutritionist when my DS was 1.  However, she really didn't give me much information that I hadn't already learned on my own off the web. There are TONS of resources.  I want you ...

Breastfeeding or formula feeding is okay (and beneficial) past one, especially with food allergic children. Since your child has food allergies, I would stay away from any nut milks.

Formula after one is very common in allergic kids.  DS is almost 18m and still getting 90% of what he need from infant formula (he can't do toddler formula).  Rice Milk is an option for drinking outside of formula, DS loves it.  You have corn and rice as readily available grains, Enjoy Life Foods is top 8 free (free of all your DD allergens). It is very daunting when you fist start out and...

My son is 21 months and still drinks Nutramigen along with rice milk and sometime coconut milk.  I found out about my son's allergies to egg, soy, milk, peanuts and almonds a few weeks before her turned 1. I remember how overwhelming it is.  It will slowly get easier as you learn what your dd can and can't have.   You'd be surprised at some of the stuff that are OK.  Trix cereal is free of ...

Yes, and yes. It's not common, but there are other children with that many allergies. This group can be a great resource for coping. And a nutritionist can also be great. We have worked with the nutritionist associated with our allergist's office. She gave use great nutritional advice about particular foods to provide particular nutrients to round out his diet, specific protein and calorie ...

My dd is 14 months old and allergic to dairy/soy. She also still gets the formula(Alimentum) and some rice milk in a sippy here and there. You can cook with rice milk as well. Whole foods sells rice milk cheese and rice and coconut milk yogurt. They also sell Ian's brand frozen foods like chicken nuggets and fries that are dairy/soy./nut(not sure about wheat) free. I believe Whole Foods also ...
