Thread: So, How Many of You Call Your Husband/Wife/SO by His/Her Real Name?
Started 4 months ago by DixieChick1972
That thread about being called the wrong name got me to thinking... I cannot remember the last time I called my husband by his real name. I guess I have at some point, but I cannot remember ever doing it. Seems like every long term relationship I have had, we get into this thing where we call each other by silly pet names. They are almost too silly and embarrassing to repeat (Stuff like Honey ...
Funny topic. I usually refer to my bf as 'hun' 'babe' or there's a special name that I call him (part of his first name but said in a cute way)! I've never referred to him with his full first name- unless I'm yelling at him about something.
It's funny that you mention that, a while ago my best friend of 4 years called me by my real name and it took me by complete surprise. I realized he had never called me that before, and vice versa. I usually refer to him as "dork" and he refers to me as "punk".

Haha, yeah I end up using the middle name too.
I really use it in crowded situation like parties, where saying a pet name won't get his attention.
My wife and I ocassionally call each other by our first names, most of the time is honey or babe, or something like that. When I'm in a goofing mood, I call her Chick and she calls me Dude. It all in fun.
The real first name thing is usually a serious in nature conversation.
I have always called her by her name--unless she went by another name. In fact, I goofed and called one by her first name when she ordinarily goes by her middle name. She gave me a dirty look--but I said, "Well, that IS your name--just not the one you go by!"
I always call my Fiance by his name and he calls me by mine unless we are making fun of each other or being sarcastic . I have never really got into the nickname thing, we don't even call each other "darling" or "swetheart". I love his name , in fact it really irritates me when people abbreviate it. I think it would just feel false to us.
When my husband calls me by my first name, not the nickname I was introduced to him as, it totally catches me off guard. I call him by his full first name not his nickname all the time, and I swear he puffs out his chest LOL
My husband and I have variations of the same name, so its kind of weird to use them often. He's usually "honey" and I am usually "dear".
