Started 1 month ago by SeaRiot

Now I notice when I turn the car off and then turn it back on a few minutes later, I get a strange indiscribable realy smell coming through the vents. It doesnt smell like oil or fluids most thing I can relate it to would be glue or WATERMELON BUBBLE YUM. The ...

You know, it's weird, SeaRiot, but over the months I've had all sorts of odd smells to contend with in my Patriot, too. They seem to just arrive from nowhere, stick around for a day or two then disappear. I wouldn't be at all surprised if I haven't had your smell (well, not exactly your smell, but you know what I mean) at some time or other. Rocal You Americans really are spoiled where ...

Maybe a disgruntled line worker stuck his slightly used gum in the dash? Nothing like a 'gift' that keeps on giving....... Seriously, you may have a coolant leak of some sort. Any 'spots' on the garage floor or in your parking space after leaving it overnight? Just because you have no external leaks, doesn't mean you don't have an internal leak. Possibly the heater core slightly ...

If no puddles anywhere, how about leaking A/C refrigerant?

jgg204 replied 1 month ago
sounds to me like it could be the R-13** (not sure what they are using in it) stuff in the A/C unit. i would get it checked out ASAP

Do you smell it when the a/c is on or off? Or both? Consider yourself lucky, I use to get a smell of-what i like to call- RANCID PISS until I installed an air cabin filter. Hope Im not just masking a bigger problem.

Some antifreeze could smell kind of like that.

or could be someone just poured some air freshner in your vents to have you trippin like your smelling stuff.I have never had any weird smells except for the nasty diesel smell from a truck to close

Now there actually doing me a favor by having me come back and in and there going to get rid of the perfume smell they put in the car. No mention of the original smell. The joke is we have two dealerships in the area nad I am going to the other one first 3 hours before I go to them so I WILL KNOW what they do not want to tell me. Also bitched and griped about how the salesman told me the vibration was normal when i test drove the car that they...

Isn't the heater core down in the center console just below and in front of the shift lever? (that's where the pipes go) It shouldn't take but 40 minuets labor to switch them out. This has to be a result of damage like getting kicked or drilling a hole for after market radio wires or something. It could even be improper installation from day one. Perhaps it is just a loose nut or clamp on the pipe. It doesn't take much of a...
