Thread: Smart car ?

Started 3 weeks, 1 day ago by dannyman
I just don't get it! In a five mile stretch on a major four lane highway I see two of those Smart cars. I can appreciate cost savings for in-town commuting; but on a major highway sharing the road with transports. I won't comment on the vehicle owners, but can anyone tell me where the term "Smart" applies?...

they are probably great cars for driving in a city. But for suburban living; not a chance.

every time I see one the person driving it has their foot to the floor driving it like they stole it.

I see them on the local Interstate on occasion. It really looks strange when one of these Smart cars are right next to the front wheel of a Kenworth And with prices that can reach $21K for one model , why is that so "smart"? Some of those stories read like typical fender-benders. Where's the stories about a head-on at 70 with a Hummer or Peterbilt? Or doing 70 ...

When I visualize a "Smart" accident on the highway; the image of a punted football immediately comes to mind!

Is it bad that I actually laughed when I visualized this?? I see them all the time on the highway down here in VA. I actually had a very close call not long ago when one pulled out right in front of me when I was driving my big Yukon 4X4 at about 55 mph. I swerved to miss and...

We have one at work as a spare car for out of town visitors. I've driven it in the parking lot a few times, and don't think I'd feel safe on the streets in it.
