I've never heard of him, and there's actually an important difference in this case - when he was sentence, Megrahi could reasonably have expected to be released one day and spend a few years out of prison before he died - not really a probable scenario with a 150 year sentence. So if I have terminal cancer and I murder someone, I'm good to go, right? No jail for me. What difference does it make WHEN I get cancer? it doesn't. One has nothing to do with the other---you can only attempt to argue this sensibly by playing devil's advocate. which is strange cause that's kinda what I'm doing...
