Thread: Sky Broadband Usage On MySky?

Started 3 months, 1 week ago by NewsreadeR
Unconfirmed by PM Sky are to launch a tool on MySky where you can see how much bandwidth you have used in the last month. Well from what we've seen this is due to start on an as yet unspecified date in October and roll-out to everyone by Christmas. There was also further clarification of the process when people go over their usage allowance. The customer will receive an email ...

I think not only is it good news it is also a fair and sensible move

All they need now is a status page for their service and a lot of people will be happy.

I mentioned the lack of a status page when I spoke to Tier 2 support about another matter on Monday. The initial response was that it would be no help when your line is down, but we agreed that the possibility of mobile internet access or phone-a-friend soundly counters that argument, and that not all faults that might be reported cause total loss of service. In the end he agreed it could ...

A good idea and not before time.

Just a question from the OP, the "system will auto-upgrade them to the next tier" Next tier what? Next package up, which would have a cost implication? and if so are they allowed to do this as part of your contract? Next tier support team to take this matter forward on upgrading your account? and if you say no then what, as it then goes on to say they don't plan on charging you or ...

The upgrade option is already covered in the T & Cs at (b)- Quote: If in any month you exceed your Usage Cap, we will notify you that you have done so. If, in any subsequent month, your usage exceeds your Usage Cap again, then we may do one or more of the following things by notice: (a) charge you fair and reasonable costs for your usage (and any ...

This would have been even more acceptable if Sky hadn't first reduced the usage allowance!!! Regards, Felix

This has (and at this moment still is) a long time coming, something like this should have been in place on day one.

Mine is the same, I think it is just another example of Sky's poor use of English. It is probably meant to mean 'up to'.

They do not answer your letters, so I am shaw they dont care if you leave. The truth is they do not give a toss, all they are interested in is signing up more customers. I also have retained my bt line. Its not so much the extra 5.00 to switch to unlimited but there attitude that ****** me off Mickr

On the service details page mine says: Your Broadband Usage Your usage allowance for this billing period is 10GB and you have used 3.45GB since 9 Dec. 18:53. That is clearly wrong as on the actual usage page it stats that I have used 3.45GB in total in the period.

Ok mine has just been updated with my latest bill and reset usage to '0'. Last night I played 3 hours on counterstrike source, the wife surfed facebook and has literally only surfed for 2 hours today and it shows this:- Your Broadband Usage Tool Current package - Sky Broadband Everyday Usage for the period: 08/12/09 - 08/01/10 These dates usually match your billing period. You're currently within your allowance You can carry on...

The reduction of the usage is ludicrous imo However since day 1 of this forum, Sky have never ever enforced any caps. Times have changed, and to be honest, expected after 3 years of doing so. Yes times change, usage is just going to increase, and I feel Sky have made a grave error on this. However, a lot of people will just upgrade to Max (now called Unlimited) as it is a lot less hassle than changing ISP. Rumours are rife at the moment,...

I had this e-mail also yesterday, I have no idea what my usage is, we don't download films, but do listen to music, upload photos to facebook etc, watch i player and some online gaming (via Wii) Adding e-mails and general browsing we might get near to 10gb, if so I'll review my options. O2/Be are pricy as we don't have an O2 phone, and there would be no point getting one as we have a very poor O2 signal at home. Orange anf...
