Thread: Simple workout - increased strength despite injuries

Hi, I have spoke a lot on here about my many injuries. Mainly my shoulders, as they have a lot of damage,laxity etc I have had open surgery on one and am more than likely going to have it on my other. My question is: How can I still gain strength without damaging myself even more? Im fed up of doing hundreds of reps of bicep/tricep curls etc with really light weights. Can anyone think of ...

hey tricky question and thats why i think no one dared to answer personally i would leave the suggestions about the shoulder rehab and work to someone who knows your injury, a physio etc. but in general, perhaps better not to think about tricep or bicep work and so on, but perhaps use bigger compound movements to build your overall strength. Let's not forget that dumbells are a little more forgiving in that area. Squats and Deadlifts can be done with dumbells too. Start light and work your way up to see if your shoulders can handle the stress. Lots of squat and deadlift variations out there. Maybe a stiff legged dead lift wouldn't stress your shoulders as much as other styles or vice versa? Your arms will get a workout as will your ...

thats the problem, with my other op they cut right through my delt, iv lost so much muscle mass and even a year on its still not quite right in terms of strength,range of movement and size/shape etc. just need some good ways to keep my strength up as iv got really bad muscle atrophy, in some directions i can hardly apply any force whatsoever using my shoulder muscles. quite worrying! i use a ...
