Toyota and BMW switching over is just from FOTA and the deal in F1, and they said they would really like to come back to LeMan and Toyota actually said they have a car in developement and the best one, Ferrari going over to P1...
Quote, originally posted by David@vwvortex » As far as the wreck, Bergy needs his head examined after that move. Fact he spun in front of the Porsche says it all. Pointless wreck at the last race of the season. Just stupid and bad racing. Leave that stuff to Nascar not ALMS. This isn't WWF with fenders. If this was the first time Bergmeister was roughed up on the last corner of a ...
Quote, originally posted by EauRouge_1 » If this was the first time Bergmeister was roughed up on the last corner of a race, I would agree with you. However, IMO both Jamie Melo (Sebring '08) & Jan intentionally hit the Jorg in the last corner of a race to slow his exit speed. Can we leave that in NASCAR too? That was a cheap move...the kids at the karting track have more class ...
Very exciting to watch for sure, and definitely something that will help give the series TV ratings a boost down the road. BUT As a racer, I place the blame squarely on IMSA/ALMS. They have set the precident that this type of behavior is acceptable, which essentially equates to desireable based on the potential benefits of this type of driving. In the Sebring incident, they let it slide, and in...
Quote, originally posted by BRealistic » A few notes: -I was not there, and was just casually observing the race on TV. -I don't follow this enough to have any brand or driver bias- except I was tuning in to see how Mazda was doing, since I drive one. I just wanted to repeat that, because I honestly had ZERO bias in the fight between the Porsche and Corvette when I watched that ...
Quote, originally posted by muttonchops » Quoted for truth. With Corvette Racing now in GT2 the competition is for real. Corvette isn't the big bad bully on the block anymore and they don't like it. They need too understand that Risi, Flying Lizard and the other teams that are racing GT2 now, aren't going to be pushed around. Corvette doesn't like competition....well they do and they...

The Porsche is the better ...
Quote, originally posted by EauRouge_1 » This is my last post on the topic, because I think we are just going around and around on this... Yep. Quote, originally posted by BRealistic » Seriousness- this discussion is a bit sickening. People are acting like this is a political discussion- judging acceptable behavior based on who does it instead of the actual actions. I ...
Quote, originally posted by BRealistic » Jan taping Joerg's car on bumper= Joerg's fault. Jan's spin= Joerg's fault. But whatever. As you said- we are going round and round. At least I watched without previous driver/team/car bias. But oh oh, your bias is showing. Modified by BRealistic at 2:06 PM 10/15/2009 The geek that I am, I've reviewed the last couple of laps a few times....
Just wondering how many people here have followed the ALMS religiously and for how long as there seems to be a huge misconception around here in how the ALMS handles these things. Having actually been to every single race since the 2002 season and working directly side by side with people at the ALMS and the teams, I can say with great certainty that they do not take incidents like this lightly ...
Quote, originally posted by msweeney » Apparently not a discussion? I apologize for bringing a racing driver's analysis of the situation into your lecture... I'll refrain from now on. Mike Was that intentionally smarmy? I don't have any issues having a real discussion (devoid of blind driver/team/car fan based posts). But I definitely question your on track driving ethics based on you previous post. Hopefully...
chois, I didnt mean to say your opinion didnt matter, poor choice of words maybe, but what I'm getting at is that you're seeing a very small portion of the overall picture. I also didnt mean to imply I'm some important insider and I know all personally and any of that, I'm not going to be invited to Jan's next birthday party or anything like that, my point there was to say that I SEE much more that is behind the...
Quote, originally posted by .:RDriver » Not trying to start arguments, but I question how you've "followed it" if you think this is the norm or that they handle things poorly. Like I said, when you've actually been around what is going on, know the drivers, know the officials and see ALL the penalties levied any given weekend, not just the one or two that Speed might cover, then you can have a valid opinion. And...
There's a difference between agressive driving and overly agressive driving. Agressive driving what what Allan McNish and the other good professional drivers do. Allan sure as hell is agressive, but does he make contact with anyone? Rarely if ever, and it never does any damage-he goes to limit, and minds it, even if IMSA occasionally has to remind him that where he was is where the limit is, though that's rare. Agressive but fair...

Should the ALMS rules be changed to penalize wrecking others on purpose?see Magnussen at Laguna Seca. NO. Magnussen took himself out. Drivers are allowed to make "a" defensive move. Being involved with IMSA the last 3 years there are some inconsistencies in the use of rules however. The bumping does draw in greater fan appeal and ALMS needs all it can get. Joerg made his one defencive rules legal move to protect his position and...
