Thread: Short break in Boston

Started 1 month ago by JaneED
Thinking about a holiday for 2010 and considering a few days in Boston before going on to New Hampshire . Wondering how many days we need in Boston? Are there apartments to rent near the main sights? Is it easy to stay out at the airport and get public transport into the centre? We are a family of four - parents and rwo older teenagers. Thanks in advance!

What time of year are you planning to visit? And how much time total between Boston and New Hampshire will you have. There are many hotels and some B and B's to pick from. I would opt to being in the city if possible rather than at the airport although our public transportation system, the MBTA, is pretty easy to negotiate.

Probably about 3 days in Boston . Happy to use public transport. Need to strike a balance between cost and location. Will be swopping our timeshare foa a week near Conway, so that bit of the trip is sorted!

You can look at the apartments on VRBO.com. Boston is very compact, if you rent apartment or hotel in the downtown, you will be able to walk almost everywhere without need to use public transportation.

I think you would have difficulty getting an apartment for that short a time, but am not sure. Some hotels that are farther out, but on the public transportation lines, might be cheaper and perhaps worth considering. There is a Holiday Inn in Brookline which is on the "Green Line" of our subway system -- probably the hotel isn't very cheap, since it's a nice area. There is a hotel in ...

Many apartments have 3 nights minimum reservation policy. I never needed renting one in Boston , but we did rent a lot all over US. The price is usually comparable to that of hotel ( except you don't have maid services and concierge). Since we usually travel with kids, we really appreciate separate living and sleeping areas that most of the apartments provide. ...

Looking for a hotel outside downtown as MaxieLu suggested is also a good idea....
