Does anyone have direct experience with Interspire or Zencart? Or perhaps any other suggestions for good shopping cart.
I have read a tiny bit about the wordpress e-commerce plugin, but wanted to know what some really good options might be otherwise.

while there is a lot of support for the man free carts(there are about 5 pretty popular open ones) I really like zen cart. Lots of support on the forums, lots of mods, and easy to install/hack em with very moderate php/mysql knowledge.
Downside of zen cart(but im sure with others too) is the learning curve. It can be fairly steep, but once you get the hang of it you are set. And dont let the ...
@davidb, how steep would you say the learning curve is? Do you have an experience with any other carts? I appreciate your feedback- sometimes all this business can feel super overwhelming.
Well its not horrible, just takes research when wanting to do certain things such as attributes and using addons with that.
Honestly I looked into some other carts but that is pretty much my extent of other carts aside from using paypal built in feature years ago. Also what are you using it for. Some carts are better than others depending on what you are selling. I am guessing from your name ...
@davidb, this is not for advertising space it's for another project I am looking to pretty heavily right now- nothing concrete just trying to get my ducks in a row and get as much info about what's available to me.

But you still might get better help from people with their experiences with carts if you at least explain a little about the type of products you are offering.
For example someone selling shoes would need a cart to hold possibly lots of products with a lot of attributes attached and need easy modifications(such as shoe type, size, color, etc)

Interspire Shopping Cart, Wow... How did Google not send me there when I was searching for hours... They have an amazing product for $25 a month. That is the most professional shopping cart I've seen. I'm using that now.
