Easiest thing to do is call your dealer to find out what's included and what they charge. If you don't like what you hear as far as the price, call another dealer in your area. Different parts of the country charge different rates. (You're lucky. You live in an area with lots of MB dealers, so you should get a competitive quote). I believe all of the Services include the basic oil/filter change ...

I think that is the 60,000 miles service... all the fluids and belts should be changed. See attachment. Service A thru F just refers to the approximate number of hours the service takes to complete. It is not a direct 1:1 relationship, letter to hours.

You're Welcome..... glad to help! Oh... by the way... don't do the $19.99 Jiffy oil change on your car, especially the early 3.5 liter engine or you'll ruin it; that engine requirement is 0-40W Mobil 1 oil only!

Wouldn't think of taking my SLK to Jiffy Lube. Even though the dealer charges an arm and a leg (and then ...

Hmmm... We just got our SLK back from it's first annual service (11k miles) and the on-board computer says that Service C is due in 9k miles....!! I must say I'm a bit puzzled, but have some time to figure it out....

GeeJay I'm confused too. I accidentally reset my service indicator and it also says Service C is next. I thought B would come up.

I had the C service done at a reputable independent foreign car service center. It was in his words "a glorified oil change". This is my first service since buying the 05 car a few months ago. The cost was $170. They topped off all fluids. Since a service is only once a year, I opted for an expert to do it.

Not sure where you reside (you might want to include it in your profile), but if you're in the states, $170 is a darn good price for a Schedule C (providing that all of the same services were performed as they would be at a dealership.) A "once a year service" is not exactly correct. Like BMWs and some other cars, the service schedule indicator comes up depending on miles driven, how hard ...

I did update my signature to include my location. Thanks for the advice. The only parts were synthetic oil and filter $$83. The hourly rate is $75. Add tax and The total was $171. I did check that that the fluids were topped off. I used this mechanic 30 years ago when I had my first German vehicle, a '63 VW bus. He was just starting out. Now it takes two weeks to get an appointment. Bob
