Thread: Server becomes unresponsive, willing to pay someone to fix...
Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by bubblehost.com
I have a CentOS dedicated server running cpanel. Lately it has been becoming unresponsive to http requests. If I try to ssh in during that time I get a access denied error. After I get a reboot or sometimes if I wait long enough, the http and ssh works again. I also get the following error from cpanel almost daily, but my host says it is from my drive being a samsung and not something I should ...
Have you got more than 1 disk in this server, if so is the other one giving the same issues on smartd?
I have never heard of Samsung disks causing those issues, but then again to be fair I would never use Samsung disks in a server.
Give me 10 minutes and I will have a quick look if you like?. PM / add me on MSN

Thinking the same thing, as SMART is used to check the integrity of the HD. I think you should contact your provider if thats the case because you don't want to take the chance of crashing a working version at the moment.

Good to hear and make sure you have a backup solution in place if this is important data.

RAID is also not a backup solution, as Matt said again. Make sure you always have backups

I don't think he stated it was a backup solution - he said consider it as an option.
I want to also add that it would help in his situation.

I think when he stated "Yes" he was agreeing to taking backups. I think he was also saying take the option of Raid1 over the other types of raid. It does not really matter anyways since RAID is not a backup solution.
