Thread: Seperation anxiety: what to leave at BOL

Started 3 months, 2 weeks ago by Kadetklapp
I'm putting together a rather large kit to leave at my BOL. It will contain some essentials that will be needed in case we can't bring anything with us. It will contain spare magazines for MBRs, batteries, first aid, clothing, blankets, lots of misc. ammunition, and so far the most expensive item, and item I'm having a hard time deciding to leave, is a G21C pistol, with holster and four...

Honestly, if you're not sure of the reliability of the H&K I would recommend selling it. I'm assuming you don't carry a pistol you've had reliability issues with. Going that route, I would sell it, and purchase more magazines for the P-95 IOT leave it at the BOL with what you feel is a sufficient supply of magazines. Sounds like a good set-up, gave me some ideas for mine...

Not saying the HK is unreliable but I trust the glock more.

Do the Glock and if you have to get another to replace it.

Do NOT leave the gun without a safe (and a gunlock in place) for liability reasons. You can get a small firesafe for $40 or less.

I would only leave the longarm - and I would hide it VERY VERY WELL.

You should get rid of your HK for the same reason I got rid of my Sig; I was real damn tired of paying $40-50 for a hi-cap magazine and I would have sworn that Sig had a cold or a stomach ache as often as it coughed and hiccuped. With the money you get from selling it you should be able to buy a second Glock along with a few accessories, such as extra mags, another holster, and some ever ...

Ok, let's back up: I'm not getting rid of the HK, simply because I do shoot it at the range pretty frequently. I enjoy the gun immensely. The USP and my 1911 go to the range often. The G21C sits in my safe, always. I bought it new in 2003 and carried it on the job for a short time. The department I went to carried .40 so I carried my G22 and the G21 went back in the safe. The HK is ...

This is why it is hard to have a BOL unless you have lots of money (can pay for someone taking care of it with security) or your BOL is a family location.

Kadetklapp replied 3 months, 2 weeks ago
It's a family location. I think I've decided to leave the G21 in the box. I have no use for it at home right now.

Planning on sticking this box under a stairwell and building up around it. This house isn't completely finished downstairs so this is a good possibility of going with a false wall. For now the Helwan 9mm and the Rossi 22/20 are the only weapons in the box. Because I am a collector and a prepper, I've presented myself with a problem in that many of my pistols are different calibers so it's difficult to stockpile like ammo.

I have a cabin on a river in the Ozarks. I put some ammunition of every caliber I own in a locked area along with an assortment of rifles, pistols and shotgun all with gun locks.
