I believe they extended it twice after 9/11 I could be remembering wrong though. I was laid off then too. Finally got a job (yeah) after 6 months a few weeks ago. But really really feeling bad for those still looking. There are so many and retail holiday hiring is slow so many people are losing out on the retail life preserver.

Unemployment should be available until you find another job no matter how long it takes. Raise the income tax on incomes over one million a year to 90% and let the financiers that made this mess pay for it.
