Thread: Search for attachments

Started 3 months, 3 weeks ago by sregideur
I use lotus 7 and would like to be able to find all documents with attachments. My database is fully indexed, but I can not find the field which has attachments. I can see $FILE and the respective file name under document properties, but the $FILE property is not shown in my search field list. I am new to lotus (have used outlook before). Can somebody help?

I found now how to search for text in files in e-mails, and it is simple, if you know. Like, write '[$file] contains a or e or i or u' in the search bar and lotus will return all e-mails which contain attachments with these characters. However, it does not recognize pdf and jpg files. Any idea how to search for e-mails with pdf attachments? Thanks.

In the database properties, when you create a search index in the Full Text Search tab, you have the possibility to index attachments. You may need to re-create the index for that. Pascal. I've got nothing to hide, and I'd very much like to keep that away from prying eyes.
