I started Charlie on Puppy chow and found out the breeder was feeding Science Diet. The DH was told this in the beginning! So I changed to Science Diet until I could learn more about dog foods. Well...I decided to go with Blue Buffalo a couple of weeks ago. Charlie went crazy over it! He has some Science diet left so I give 3/4 cup SD with 1/4 cup Blue Buffalo to slowly make the change. He will ...
That’s funny, I started Tux on Science Diet when I adopted him, and then the first food I switched him to from that was Blue Buffalo…I didn’t notice him picking out the Blue Buffalo over the Science Diet or anything, but I do know that he had bad gas on the Science Diet, and that went away with Blue Buffalo.
It's no wonder they are doing better on Blue Buffalo, the first two ingredients in Science Diet Large Breed Adult are Ground Whole Grain Corn, Chicken By-Product Meal, in that order...Dogs are carnivores first, omnivores second. I don't see dogs running through corn fields devouring all the corn. I personally never fed Blue Buffalo, but it's ingredient list looks very good.
Nope, not that I can recall. Blue has never picked out bits of food, but he did enjoy "eating" Blue Buffalo, unfortunately Blue Buffalo didn't agree with him.
One thing that Blue does like that I've learned is canned food. He goes nuts when I add a little to his dry food and blend it well with water. I swear he tap dances for the stuff
I experienced the same thing with Luna as a puppy - only I was switching from the breeder's kibble to Orijen Large Breed Puppy. I had planned to make a nice slow transition over a 10 day period. But Luna immediately started picking out and eating only the Orijen and leaving the other kibble in the bowl. I even tried putting only the old kibble in the bowl first hoping she would quick eat that and...
Not with dog kibble no, but Palomar will pick out the hamburger or chicken, when he's had to have a bland diet, leaving just the rice behind. Now thats talent!
Chloe will eat her food (Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy) but much prefers the older dog's food (Royal Canin Labrador formula) when we let her have a taste.
LOL that's cute. My Corgi is doing REALLY well on the BB. No gas or anything, but I'm switching to Innova just because in my area, it's cheaper than BB and has better ingredients. (Even though BB's ingredients are pretty good as is).
And no, both my dogs act like they haven't been fed in weeks when they eat, so everything gets devoured
