Thread: School in Dubai

Started 2 months ago by Zinouba
Hello everyone, I need your help, we have to move to Dubai as my husband has been offered a job there. We are planning to leave the UK in january. I am completely lost as I know nothing about the schools in Dubai. My daughter is 5 years old and is in year 1. What are the good schools in Dubai? What are the schools to avoid? We haven't decided where to live yet, I suppose it will ...

Primary Schools? DESS, JESS, JESS Ranches, Jebel Ali (though its a loooong way out), JPS, Horizon, English College, Kings. These are the established old hands who have a good reputation. Some of the newer ones arent necessarily that good.

I am also looking to move to Dubai (from Al Ain) in the near future. We have a 5 year old and a 21/2 year old. I looked at all the recommended schools and by and large they seem lovely. Several stand out and are priced accordingly but the English College looks nice and much less expensive, does anyone have any experience with this school? Or any of the others listed really. Thanks!

I dont have any direct knowledge of EC Primary, but can find out. I have a work colleague whose daughter has gone the Secondary school there this year. Her daughter is very happy with the school and already taking advantage of the many extra clubs etc. There is a great feel about the school, the Management at the school are very 'sorted' and the staff show a genuine interest in the ...

Hi, I'm looking to apply for a job at Repton School and was wondering if anyone knew of the school and it's reputation. I've spent time researching the school and it's UK counterpart but was wondering if anyone could provide further information about it. It looks like it's going to be a great school once it's completely finished. Thanks!

I don't know if King's has spaces or not but we will likely apply to both Regent and King's. Possibly also the Dubai British School although no one has mentioned it.

Kings has been around longer and has a very good reputation, I have friends with children there and it is apparently an excellent school (in fact one of only I think 3 or 4 schools which got an outstanding rating in last years inspections). Regent on the other hand I have heard mixed reports about. I suppose all you can do is visit Kings as well and make up your own mind as to which suits your child better. I am quite surprised that Kings...

Sorry, you're right . It's Taaleem (used to be Beacon). I don't think people are quite as put off as they are with GEMS.
