Hi, We have a newly-installed server with MS SQL Server 2005 installed on it. SQL Server Management Studio (the 2005 version) is also installed and operational. However, we cannot seem to subsequently get Business Development Studio [2005] now installed on this machine. What does "cannot seem" mean? How are you trying to install BIDS? Are you getting an error message when you do so? If so, what is the exact error message? (Note that you may have to check the setup logs for the details, there should be a link made available to you at the last step in setup.)

It does not appear on any Program Menu following completion of the installation procedure. It is definitely selected from the appropriate place on the set-up routine, and although the installation process runs through quite happily with no error messages and seems to have been installed, it just does not appear. We have run through a similar installation routine on my desktop PC to just ...

Does the log file say anything useful? Did you search on the unsuccessful machine for the EXE file that the shortcut on the successful machine points to? (Just because the shortcut didn't make it to the Start menu doesn't mean it's not there.) What about differences between the two machines? Does one machine have Visual Studio- or SQL Server-related stuff that the other machine doesn't have? ...
