I have been building my own custom AT machines for some time now. Last year I decided to step up to an ATX. It took months to find a place that would make my custom designed parts for the HDDs "Ducted Fan" cooling setup I use, (which takes air from inside the case, blows it over the HDDs, then OUT of the case by way of a duct - so it is never reused, and doesn't warm other components), and it ...

Hi all o/
I've decided to get a new PC, and to build it entirely by myself this time (and to add difficulty, I'll try my first WC on it. But this will be later. And yes, I like challenges )
I've already made some choices, but I change them every day (when it's not every hour xD). So I think I really need advices from other people ^^ And that's why I'm here.

Also does the 2500€ budget include the new video ...
Oh, and I thought of something to add (sorry for the double post , but the edition doesn't mark the topic as unread)
I made buying simulations of the 2 set-ups, and I got the following results :
1st set-up : 1627,95
2nd set-up : 2088,13
All are shipping included and without WC.

What do you mean with defragging bug??? You mean that defrag is harmful to the HDD's lifespan?
About the PSU , 620 W is enough for both rigs i think, ...

The OCZ XTC is not that noisy unless you run it full throttle, which is unnecessary.
From what shop you want to buy? If you give us the link we could go and see what's interesting and post a cart here.
Anyway a couple of Velociraptors will be fast, but for that budget you might want to get a couple of SSDs.
Also, don't think that RAID0 with two Velociraptors will improve performances ...

On this machine I don't. On Superpuppy 3 I had to, because "Blankety Blank Broderbund" had shut down their registration program for the Broderbund software I bought. (I guess the software was OLD). Said software had most of its better features disabled until you registered it and then they would give you an activation key. I emailed Broderbund asking for a key, but the two they sent me were garbage. 4 character codes...
I use the gigabyte board in one of my systems with an X2 4850e CPU , 4 gigs HyperX T1 and a HD4870 1Gb and it will run most things I throw at it (HTPC/Downstairs Gaming rig)...... Only got a slight overclock on it at the mo. The spec page for the board is here - main reason I bought it was it will run AM2, AM2+ and AM3 CPU 's and so I could upgrade when I wanted..... Buying an X2 / X3 will save you some dosh, as the crucial memory has...
Honestly, you wont notice anything in games and apps. Some benchmarks might reflect a difference. Clunk's testing showed 1600mhz with tightish timings was the sweet spot, anything extra is for benchers.
Yes. You can use the windows backup utility and do a complete PC backup to a third disk. Then you will enable the RAID mode for the controller, enter the controller's BIOS and create the array, then boot with the Win 7 DVD and restore your system from there.
Thank you for the reply. And the list of parts give me more to look at. I have a lot to take in over the last few days but things are becomeing clear to me and that as was said in one of the last post prices will change all the time so as l am not in a hurry l have time to look around to find the best price. May be just concentrate on one part at a time. So some time in the New Year I will be posting photos on the forum. Thank you all for all...
^^ We tried the same instructions in the link Swagman. In our case though, the scratch was just too deep and too straight to make an acceptable repair. I think with light scratches it will probably work, as long as the scratch is erratic (not in a straight line). Defo worth a try though, whatever type of scratch it is. Otherwise, it's a claim on the contents insurance.
