Ok..an NFL team but i do think this topic is interesting enough for the forum.. Curious to hear thoughts on the events of the last week.. Personally, i've no problem with RL buying into any sports team..he has the right IMO to invest his money when and how he sees fit..
Of course he has the right to spend his money how he sees fit. The group interested in buying the Rams also have the right to remove him from said group if they see fit. Which they did. The fact is Rush Limbaugh has made obviously ignorant, if not downright racist comments about at least one player in the NFL. This is well known and there were already players speaking out that they would never ...
Local ESPN affiliate was talking about it yesterday and mentioned (NFL or MLB?) already have several owners who are convicted felons so keeping him out on any "stigma" basis would be pretty hypocritical. One of them also opined while some players would not play there, most would not care ($$$ talks), and some actually would prefer to go there - that the NFL (players as a group) is not nearly as ...
The fact is Rush Limbaugh has made obviously ignorant, if not downright racist comments about at least one player in the NFL. I really wonder about these sort of threads on a COACHING blog...What's the point? If I need a change of pace, I just go to a site where this sort of stuff is discussed. Anyhoo... Dave...sigh. Limbaugh's comments weren't racist. Stop it. This is getting to be ...
OMG! I'm not a fan of Rush Limbaugh, but the reasoning by the NFL to not let him buy a share of a team is absolutely ridiculous considering they have no problem with players who lie, cheat, steal, beat their wives and torture animals.
Rush Limbaugh has the right to his free speech, and it has come back to haunt him. His apparent lack of understanding and comprehension of American History, the artificial construct of race, and socioeconomic affects on various ethnic groups is typical of his tru believers. What is embarrassing is people who try to defend that ignorance and hate mongering the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity, and Beck ...
Real, If we exclude people based on the types of comments Limbaugh has actually made, some of which are offensive, we would exclude everybody. This type of exclusionary behavior is not only hypocritical it is also akin to the black lists of the 1950's. In the end the outrage over political correctness will have worse consequences those who have sought to pile on than it will have on Limbaugh....
Wow guys, most of the Rush furor was based on factless claims and made up quotes that spread like wildfire. Believe what you want, but have facts to back it up. There's a lot of worse people who are part owner of sports franchises and that is a fact, they just haven't been villanized by the leftist propaganda machine.
RealMad1, here's the quote: Rush: "I don't think he's been that good from the get-go. I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. They're interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well (Why wouldn't they? the NFL is first and foremost a business, and they cater to each and ...

You do not have to agree with the assessment of McNabbs play or why he thought he was being unjustly praised but racially motivated is a stretch.
How is it a stretch? If he was white then Rush would not have made the statements questioning his "earning" the amount of media coverage he was getting.
Because the logic is if he was white he would not get the media coverage...
AFB, Thanks for your post. It nice to hear that fellow coaches have nice things to say when I am not around! I know that you and I don't agree on a lot of political issues. I do my best to have a reasoned debate on issues and respect your opinion and don't doubt your sincerity or honestly. For everyone else, I have never said that Limbaugh should be excluded from owning or being part of an ownership team....

Lets examine what Rush leaves out. The African's that were enslaved and brought here and sold as slaves were stripped of their culture, religious faith, and family among other things. Few learned or were taught a skill to pass down and families were often separated. The were subjected to the whims of their "owners," and the law offered them no protection. Once...
I was just going to type exactly what AFB just posted :) Well said AFB! I would like to hear the term "Bi-Partisan" mentioned more when it comes to wrangling in the the House and Senate, but that would make WAY too much sense.....
First of all, to the Rush fans who got your panties in a twist, calm down. I'm not getting into a political discussion here. I am an independent and despise nothing more than partisan BS.
I'm thinking people here are defending ideology here DaveC... not Rush.
Rush's comments were racially motivated . Just like some of the ignorant racially motivated comments Sharpton and Jackson would make.
And herein lies part of the difficulty. Vaguaries are open to all sorts of (highly emotional) interpretation. I say things all the time that are racially motivated, but that doesn't make me a racist. Sometimes it makes me sound stupid...or, as you said above, ignorant...but...
This debate is so charged with emotion on all sides that it is losing any chance of being fruitful. I have never met Rush Limbaugh. I rarely listen to him or other pundits - I do not have the time. My sister worked for a number of years with Rush Limbaugh when he was in Kansas City. She was an account executive at the Radio station where he was a sports commentator and announcer. She shares my views on...
